About Brittney
I'm Brittney — a Jesus follower, wife to Doug, and mama of four (8, 7, 4, and 2). I love to write, think deeply, and live life on purpose.
I've always been a visionary at heart — building ideas in notebooks, launching some, tucking others away for later. I've learned that not every dream is meant for now. Some are meant for others. And a few are meant to shape me.
I earned my degree in Environmental Science from Rutgers University, and my career has spanned multiple industries, giving me a wide-lens perspective that shapes how I approach motherhood, work, and calling.
Over the last decade of building our family, I've worked full-time outside the home, navigated hybrid seasons, stayed home fully, and pursued creative projects along the way. Some seasons required me to step forward professionally. Others invited me to step back and focus almost entirely on our home.
Today, I support families and small businesses in protecting what matters most — their homes, their people, and their work — through thoughtful insurance solutions, while continuing to build resources for women navigating the busy, beautiful seasons of raising littles. None of my roles have followed a straight line; they've ebbed, flowed, and grown with every season of life.
This rhythm has also marked my involvement with Garden of Hope Foundation — the nonprofit my husband co-founded over 12 years ago (learn more). Even though I have been on the board for most of our marriage, there have been seasons when I was deeply active and hands-on, and other years when my primary assignment was our home and little ones, and my role was a quiet supporter.
I've learned that faithfulness isn't measured by constant visibility — it's about stepping forward and stepping back in alignment with the season you're in.
But beneath all the roles, I wrestled with questions many mothers quietly carry:
- How do I balance home and calling?
- What happens to my growth in survival seasons?
- How do I steward this decade well?
What brought me back wasn’t hustle — it was slowing down.
It was women who modeled community, prayer, expanded timelines, and reflection. That rhythm of pausing birthed The Pause Method — a recalibration tool for women raising littles who want to live intentionally instead of reactively.
Because here’s what I’ve come to believe:
Our children need to see us contributing — in small and big ways —
both inside and outside the home.
Not every season will look the same.
But every season carries purpose.
We don’t have to rush.
We don’t have to do everything at once.
But we also don’t have to disappear.
I’m so glad you’re here.
About the Pause Method
The Pause Method is at the heart of everything I am doing. It's not a productivity system. It's a recalibration system for ambitious mothers who want to build meaningful lives — without burning out or neglecting what matters most.
Pause stands for:
Pray > Assess > Understand > Simplify > Embark
Here's how it works:
Pray
Quiet the noise and invite God into your decisions.
Assess
Take inventory of your life — what's working, what isn't.
Understand
Identify where you need to grow, gain insight, or see things differently.
Simplify
Let go of distractions and misalignment. Clear space for what truly matters.
Embark
Take confident, purpose-filled action that aligns with your values and season of life.
It's a framework designed to help you slow down, reflect, and take intentional steps forward — even in the middle of raising littles, juggling responsibilities, and chasing dreams.
Pray – Start by creating space to listen. Invite God into your life and your decisions. Pause long enough to quiet the noise, tune into your heart, and discern what really matters.
Assess – Take inventory of your life. Look at the patterns, habits, and values that shape your life. Where are you thriving? Where do you feel stretched or misaligned? What is working and what isn’t? This isn’t about judgment — it’s about clarity.
Understand – Look for areas where you need to grow or gain insight. What assumptions, patterns, or blind spots are holding you back? It's intentional learning about yourself, your relationships, and your priorities. Where do you need outside input?
Simplify – Remove what doesn’t serve you. This could be habits, obligations, or expectations that distract you from your priorities. Simplifying doesn’t mean doing less for the sake of less — it means making space for what truly matters, for both you and your family.
Embark – Take purpose-filled action. Move forward in alignment with your values, your calling, and your current season of life. Embarking is not about rushing; it’s about starting where you are, equipped with clarity and confidence.
The Pause Method helps you:
- Slow down — giving yourself permission to step off the hamster wheel
- See clearly — gain perspective on your life, goals, and responsibilities
- Learn intentionally — grow through reflection and thoughtful action
- Remove misalignment — clear out what distracts, drains, or derails you
- Take purpose-filled action — live with intention, not by accident
This framework is built for mothers who have dreams, projects, or business ideas — women who want to grow without putting life on hold. It helps you steward this season well, nurture your family, and prepare for the next chapter of your life with clarity and confidence.
With Pause, you don’t just survive your seasons — you live them on purpose and fully present, leaving space for growth, joy, and impact in every area of life.
For every mother in the middle of it all — my hope is that you pause, breathe, and remember that your life, your calling, and your presence matter.
